It is in that spirit that we take the time to pause and remember that freedom is not free and the importance of memorial day. We are honored to participate with our community in remembrance of those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

Your SLVFD took some time on Tuesday as we do each year to decorate the graves of former SLVFD members in area cemeteries who have passed before us.

Today we joined our Saranac Lake community in honoring fallen military members by marching in the traditional memorial day parade and participating in our local memorial day ceremonies held at Riverside Park.

The weather was beautiful this weekend and we hope all enjoyed the weather and all of the recreational and outdoor activities our community has to offer, but we also hope that each of us found the time to remember those who fought to ensure we have the things we do and the freedom that we have.
