| In an effort to introduce the community to our members, we will periodically spotlight a different member. It is our privilege to introduce Andrew J McGill.
Andy currently serves as the 1st Assistant Chief of the SLVFD. He is currently the President of the Franklin County Fire Advisory Board and serves as an Investigator on the Franklin County Cause and Origin Determination Team. Andy is also a Diver on the SLVFD Dive Rescue and Recovery Team.
Andy graduated from Pius X Central School in 1969 and joined the Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department on May 3rd 1973. During Andy's near 39 years of service he has held numerous offices within the SLVFD. Andy served as Chief of the SLVFD in 1996 and 1997, he also served as a Paid Driver from 1973-1974 and from 1980-1983.
Andy's training credentials are impressive. He is a past Emergency Medical Technician and he first took his Essentials of Firefighting course in November of 1973. Just to name a few of his NY State Fire Courses, Andy has completed:

Andy lives with his wife of 22 years "Laurie" and their cat "Eva" in Santa Clara. Laurie is the daughter of Past Chief and 60 year member Harrison L. Kent Jr. who passed away in July of 2010. Andy is employed as the Highway Superintendent of the Town of Santa Clara. His hobbies include hunting in the fall and golf.
