It may have rained on our parade, but it certainly did not dampen our spirits. A very special thank you to the residents of our community who came out and braved the weather. North Country folks certainly are a hearty bunch. For many years the SLVFD has been called on to help deliver Santa, a task so large that for the last 10 years we have needed to call in all the area fire and EMS departments as well as local businesses and organizations for mutual aid and have turned this into a full fledged parade. The parade participants compete for trophies for best decorated emergency vehicle and best decorated community vehicle. Judged by the Mayor, this years awards go to the Paul Smiths-Gabriels fire department and Duff's Dumpsters. There is a lot going on in town besides the parade... Some of the local businesses set up street activities, there was a choir, hot chocolate, and a fire at Berkley Square. Christmas tree's were lit at Berkley Square and at Riverside Park, trophies were awarded at Berkley Square and Santa visited with some children at Berkley Square and then proceeded to the Saranac Lake It is always risky to give personal thanks as so many people contribute to this event that has grown each year. If we have forgotten anybody please comment below and we will certainly update the article. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!! Santa and Mrs. Claus
Parade Participants: Saranac Lake Police Department We at the SLVFD wish all of you a very Merry Christmas! |
