We at the SLVFD would like to wish all of you a very Happy Thanksgiving. As we usher in the new holiday season we reflect on what we are most thankful for. For us, this includes our family, friends, our fellow volunteers, and of course our generous community. The community that we love to serve and keep safe to the best of our ability. On Saturday 11/26 from 10am to 2pm we at the SLVFD are opening our doors to host our annual Holiday Helpers toy drive. Each year we get to see first-hand just how generous our community is as we watch the pile of toys grow. Your generosity is apparent in this impressive pile of gifts. This year’s toy drive will be held at the fire station. For the past 2 years due to the pandemic we have hosted the toy drive, in a drive through fashion at the Baptist Church. This year we return to our station and as usual the firefighters will be present to accept your gifts and will be decorating the station for Christmas. It’s a great opportunity for us to visit with you and for you to meet some of your volunteers. A Special Ask… Speaking with Patti Ploof, Co-Chair of the Holiday Helpers Program, she says, “This year the program has added a lot of new families in need. The increasing costs of everything is really hurting them. Their money is going to food and they are not able to provide clothing and gifts for their children. Currently there are 165 children in the program right now and they anticipate a few more.” We are asking our generous community to once again step up as we always do to support this great cause by stopping by the station on Saturday between 10am and 2pm and drop off a donation of unwrapped toys. We look forward to visiting with you Saturday, and watching the pile of toys grow. Happy Thanksgiving. |
