Recently 1st Assistant Chief Tim Donaldson, 2nd Assistant Chief Doug Peck, and Director Mike Boon travelled to the Bangor Fire Department to attend the IFO graduation ceremony for 2 SLVFD members.

SLVFD members Codey LaPage and Andrea Boon have been traveling back and forth to the Franklin County Training Grounds in Westville (1 hour each way) for classes that began over a year ago. They attended and graduated Basic Firefighting Operations from September - December 2019 (see link below for story) It was intended that they would advance to Interior Firefighting Operations “IFO” in March but due to the COVID crisis that course was delayed several months. Finally they have graduated and can now take some well deserved time off the road.

The SCBA/IFO course is 16 additional sessions and 50 hours that advance the student from Basic firefighting to interior firefighting operations. Combined the students travelled for 40 sessions and in excess of 120 hours of training. It is impossible to overstate how much we admire and appreciate the dedication of our volunteer members.

If you see Codey and Andrea in the community please take the time to congratulate them and thank them for their service.
