The SLVFD would like to welcome Andrea Boon as a new probationary firefighter. We are excited to have her on board!!!

Andrea follows in her father's, uncle's, and great grandfather's footsteps. All of these family members have contributed so much to our department and our community. Andrea's father Mike Boon has been a member of the SLVFD since 1977. Mike has served as a past Assistant Chief and still serves today as a firefighter and Director on the departments Executive Committee. Andrea's uncle Robert Boon has been named to the SLVFD Honor Roll, and Andrea's great grandfather Ed Boon served as the Chief of the SLVFD in 1940 and 1941.

When asked Andrea states, "I wanted to follow in my dad’s footsteps who I look up to a lot. I wanted to continue the family tradition because my great grandfather was also in the department and was chief at one point. It’s something that I have wanted to do for awhile, I am excited to be a part of the fire department and contribute by giving back to a community that has given me so much."

Andrea attended her first regular department meeting on Thursday August 1st and will complete a 6 month probationary period as all new SLVFD members do. We could not be happier to have Andrea as a member. Thank you to Andrea and all the Boon's for their service.
