2nd Update: SLVFD to remain in Depew, Will Rotate Firefighters.

Fire Drivers Rick Yorkey and Charlie Duprey who have been on duty with the Depew Fire Department will be travelling home today. SLVFD's involvement will continue, Yorkey and Duprey are being relieved by Fire Drivers John Derby and Rick Hurteau.

Our guys have been involved in multiple fire and rescue missions and are actively responding with the Depew Fire Department. Yorkey and Duprey are expected to arrive home sometime this afternoon.

Depew NY has been the victim of a record breaking lake effect blizzard. They have in excess of 5 1/2 feet of snow in round 1 of the storm and are expecting an additional 2-3 feet of snow in round 2 of the storm.

The below link of NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams shows Depew Firefighters evacuating a nursing home in Cheektowaga NY and describes the situation there in more detail.

Hogansburg-Akwesasne and the Owls Head-Mountain-view Fire Departments were also deployed from Franklin county as part of a statewide mutual aid response to the area.

According to Google maps the distance between Saranac Lake NY and Depew NY is 325 miles.

John Derby and Rick Hurteau will travel to Depew today and are expected to be in the area for 24-36 hours.
