On May 10th, 2014 the Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department held its 2nd Annual Golf Tournament at the Saranac Inn Golf Club. There were 108 golfers and 27 teams in the 4-person scramble and despite the poor weather that was forecasted, it turned out to be a beautiful spring day. Player’s had chances to win prizes on the course thanks to High Peaks Ford sponsoring hole in one contest’s that included a brand new 2014 Ford Focus. There were also prizes for men’s and women’s longest drive and closest to the pin.

At the completion of the round, golfers came back to the club house to enjoy a delicious pig roast BBQ meal prepared by Chris and Missy Blanchard. Once the score cards were tallied, 1st place in the Tournament went to the Veteran’s Memorial Association team of Mike Laramee, Bill Dupree, Sid Cole and Pat Redmond with a score of 64. 2nd place went to the Saranac Lake Edward Jones team and 3rd place went to Team Maxwell. There were numerous prizes handed out as a result of the on-course contests and a Chinese Auction. A 50/50 raffle winner was also drawn. This fund raising tournament would not have been possible without the support of all the golfers and numerous sponsors.
