| On May 11th, 2013 the Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department held its 1st Annual Golf Tournament at the Saranac Inn Golf Club. 124 golfers from all around the area came out and braved early rain showers to compete in a 4 person scramble and to show their support for the Fire Department. After the first few holes the rain cleared and it was back to having fun. There were several on-course contests such as longest drive and closest to the pin. On hole #16, any golfer that made a hole in one would win a new car from High Peaks Ford.
At the completion of the round, golfers came back to the club house to enjoy a delicious BBQ meal provided by Smokey's BBQ 9-1-1. In the end, there was a tie for first place at 10 under par between team Morgan and team Rockbottomgolf.com. The Tupper Lake Fire Department team took 3rd place at 7 under par. There were numerous prizes handed out as a result of the on-course contests and a Chinese Auction. A 50/50 raffle winner was also drawn. This fund raising tournament would not have been possible without the support of all the golfers and numerous sponsors. The Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department would like to thank the following individuals and businesses, some of which sponsored teams as well:
