On Friday 12/7/2018 area fire departments went "Full Griswold" decorated their trucks and paraded Santa Claus through the village of Saranac Lake where he was delivered to the Town Hall where area children anxiously awaited his arrival.

Each year the area departments compete for the best decorated fire truck. A trophy is passed around from department to department who get to hold the trophy for the year they win. This years winners were first timers to our parade. We would like to congratulate the Duane Volunteer Fire Department on the win. Great job and now you have to be here every year!!!

The SLVFD would like to thank the following... Home Energy of Saranac Lake, Patrick Murphy and the Saranac Lake Chamber of Commerce, The Waterhole, The Saranac Lake Police Department, The Saranac Lake Fire Department Auxiliary, The Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Department, The Paul Smiths Gabriels Fire Department, The Adirondack Regional Airport, The Bloomingdale Fire Department and the Duane Volunteer Fire Department.

This event is a lot of fun for us, it is a great break from calls and it is fun to participate in the community we love and serve. As a note, within an hour of the parades end, The Bloomingdale Volunteer Fire Department was called on a structure fire with mutual aid provided by multiple departments participating in this parade. Many if not most of the firefighters in this parade were called into service and the home was saved.

We hope you enjoy the video, On behalf of the Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department and all the area Departments We wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!
